Note-taking

Here is a good article from Emerging EdTech about helping students with note-taking. “…more often than not, students go through a real quest in order write down what matters most. Help them reach that goal by being an active partner. For example, offer a short intro at the beginning of the class to let them know what clues to follow in your discourse that pinpoint important data. You can further help them gain the overall picture by summarizing following a lecture. Also be sure to keep lectures to a reasonable length, and break them up a bit with things like digital supplements, activities, discussion, and so on.”¬†by ALEXANDRA RECASAN on DECEMBER 18, 2014

Educause Study of Students and IT

UAA students participated in the Educause study of students and IT. The results show some expected trends. Mobile ownership continues to grow and students are often online with two devices at a time (though they report that mobile devices are often not welcome in the classroom). Not surprisingly, most students report that they learn best with a blend of online and face-to-face components.Only two out of every three students feels prepared to use the technology required in their courses. How can we help them?
